Purple Heart City

On June 2, 2013, the Town of Cramerton, in conjunction with distinguished members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, proclaimed Cramerton a Purple Heart City.  The honor demonstrates Cramerton’s ongoing commitment to the support of our wounded veterans and the sacrifice they have made in defense our freedoms.  Mayor Ronnie Worley issued the proclamation.

Villages at Cramerton Mills Phase II

Villages at Cramerton

On June 15, 2013, the Cramerton Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a Conditional Use Rezoning request from the Amicus Group and Bowman Development Group for eight parcels of property located off of Hamrick Road.  The land will become part of a Phase II development for the previously approved Villages at Cramerton Mills.

Phase I was initially approved to include 284 apartments, 124,000 square feet of office/retail/institutional space, and 224 single family homes.  Phase II will include an additional 160 single family homes, 168,500 square feet of light manufacturing space, an amenity area, and the construction of a district energy plant.  The district energy plant will generate electricity, heating, and cooling for the Villages at Cramerton Mills through a combination of natural gas and solar photovoltaic paneling.

The emphasis on green energy use and building techniques will continue to receive support from the South Fork Development Institute.  The South Fork Development Institute is a non-profit organization receiving support from Appalachian State University, Gaston College, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Industry Partners to engage in workforce development for our region and perform research in sustainability.  The Institute will be housed in the Villages’ institutional space.

Bowman Development Group and its associates now plan to develop parts of the approved Phase I and Phase II simultaneously.  The official groundbreaking will be held later this year.  For more information please review the presentations provided by the developers.

CPD National Night Out

The Cramerton Police Department will host a National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 beginning at 6:00 p.m.  and will conclude by 9:00 p.m.  This special event helps National Night Out celebrate their 30th anniversary of building stronger, safer communities.

National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen communities nation-wide by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local police department. The event’s goal is to heighten crime prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs and most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.  It’s also a perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors even better.

A wide array of activities and displays are planned for adults and children all at no cost.

We hope to see you there!

For more information on this event, contact Officer Belinda Robinson with the Cramerton Police Department at 704-824-7964.
